Development of innovative materials improving aesthetics in automotive based on nanotechnology and environmental friendly products and processes

Abstract

Automotive sector is a major consumer of material technologies, and at the same time it is highly driven by aesthetics and consumer preferences developing high added value cost efficient solutions, but also high added value luxury solutions. In this way, continuous improving of the performance of the existing technologies for car industries is required. With this purpose, the present project is focused in the improvement of aesthetic performance of interior and exterior automotive parts.

Description of Projectidea

The present project is focused in the improvement of aesthetic performance of interior and exterior automotive parts by applying innovative nano-based materials such as nanocomposites and nanocoatings, optimising the production processes and proposing new environmental friendly alternatives to current materials and processes used in the car industry.

The project will be focused in improving aesthetics of interior structures based on natural fibres composites, polyurethane skins and exterior and interior chromed parts improving at the same time mainly scratch and UV resistance of these parts by the introduction of nanomaterials.
